Habitat:
Hedgerows, woodland edges, disturbed ground

Season:
March – June (young growth best)

Identification:
Serrated leaves, square stems, covered in fine stinging hairs.

Edible Parts:
Young leaves and tops

Uses:
Soup, tea, pesto, spinach substitute

Lookalikes & Cautions:
Dead-nettles do not sting and are also edible, but different species.

Ethical Notes:
Wear gloves when harvesting. Avoid older plants once flowering.
