Foraging on the shoreline requires careful attention to tides, weather, and access. The sea is dynamic and conditions can change quickly.

- Access points and exit routes
Key Safety Principles
Never forage on a rising tide
Plan to work as the tide is going out, giving yourself ample time to leave safely.
Know your shoreline
Rocky platforms, gullies, and headlands can become cut off quickly.
Watch the weather
Wind direction, swell, and rain all affect safety and footing.
Avoid slippery or unstable ground
Seaweed-covered rocks can be extremely slippery.
Harvest lightly and mindfully
Do not trample fragile habitats or disturb wildlife.
